Every year, approximately 18 000 Finns contribute to the ISF financially. The majority of donations come from private individuals, but school classes, trade union branches and other volunteer groups also provide funding.

85% of ISF's development programme is funded by the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. ISF's total budget in 2010 is approximately 2,4 million euros.
